Amethyst & Reunion

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Henrietta went to the Children’s Museum with my mom last week, and at the gift shop she picked out this hunk of amethyst for me. Her idea is that I can keep it in my office and think of her when I look at it. Aww. We spent part of the Memorial Day weekend at […]

A visit to Waterloo

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

We took advantage of the Veteran’s Day holiday to take a super-long weekend trip to visit the Rotas in Waterloo. Good adventures: the zoo, playgrounds, and great family time! And a good Homer moment from tonight’s dinner: Etta: Where do ribs come from? Daddy: Well, they’re pork—they come from pigs. Etta: What else comes from […]

Three years old: a seriously delinquent post

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I guess it’s been kind of a busy summer. In summary: Etta is three! We went to Minnesota and Wisconsin for the Lippert reunion. Horses were involved. Etta’s going to be a big sister. Phew.

Two and a half years old!

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Henrietta is two and a half! As we were walking to the bus this afternoon, she said, “The sky is blue. Why is the sky blue?” We spent last week in St Maarten/St Martin — many great adventures!

Easel, modified

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Among other weekend projects large and small, we modified the Mala easel so we could keep the used paper on a second roll. We had a 1″ dowel, and got wooden brackets to mount it on the back of the easel frame. Nothing fancy, but it keeps the used paper tidy, and we should be […]

23 Months Old!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Well, we took the picture this morning, so really it’s 23 months plus one day. But you didn’t want us to wake her up last night just for a picture, did you? I didn’t think so. Recent developments: Singing along. Until recently, she’d sing on her own, and enjoyed being sung to. Now, she’ll join […]

Dental misadventures, trip to NYC

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Well, it’s been a busy couple of weeks, and not much time to post. The Tooth: The Thursday before Mothers’ Day, Etta got up in the morning and had a broken tooth! I saw there was something funny when I was changing her, and it turned out to be a big old crack right up […]

20 Months Old, and Puerto Rico Trip!

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Boy, I’m a slacker. Etta’s 20 months old! Besides being ridiculously cute, incredibly tall, and generally a very cool toddler, she’s also really verbal — knows lots of colors, lots of nouns, does please and thank you (sometimes), and knows names. And in travel news, we spent Harvard’s Spring Break in San Juan with my […]

Great Vacation…

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

…lousy return trip. Oh well. Good stuff first: Us at the zoo—lots more pictures on Flickr! And the travel torture (just need to get this out of my system): On our return trip, we flew through Dulles on United. Etta was great on the first flight — she kept herself busy fiddling with stuff around […]
